Dear lee,
Although most patients do not have rectal pain, it is possible to have post-operative discomfort.  It is suggested that nerves may be caught in an inflammatory or fibrotic region. before drawing such a conclusion, it is necessary however, to rule out other causes as appears to have been done in your situation.
