scar tissue formation post colonectomy

Posted By A.J.S. on December 10, 1998 at 13:12:16:

My cousin had a colonectomy two years ago for a "lazy bowel" and since then has experienced scar tissue formation necessitating repeated surgeries and dilation.  This scarring has taken from as little as a couple of weeks to many months to become obstructive enough to be life-threatening.
Is there anything new in the way of surgical technique, diet/nutrition, collagenase or other enzyme therapy, biomagnetic therapy, etc. that might help dampen her tendency to form scar tissue or to dissolve the scar tissue once it has formed?
Thank you for your time.
