second opinion pls

i have a knot feeling in the upper (my left ) side right on the belt line next to the inside of my pelvis bone for the past 6 months went to friend of mine (a doctor) he checked me for hernia told me it was something to do with the iliac nerve and to take ibuprofin and it would be gone in a week or 2. i also told him bout the blood i have in stool which is bright red.never had any pain till yesterday when i felt a shooting pain down my leg from that area. some constipation exist.i can see in stool where a stripe of blood runs down it .also have pain while having movement .feels like a few inches up in colon.what should i do?

Blood in the stool should always be evaluated.  Hemorrhoids, an anal fissure, polyps or possibly cancer can all lead to blood.

I would suggest a colonoscopy or flexible sigmoidoscopy.

Regarding the pain in that area, imaging the abdomen can be considered to exclude colitis or diverticulitis.  A CT scan can be considered.
