It is impossible to determine whether the care is adequate from the internet without examination and review of the chart.

From the brief description, it seems that your father is quite sick and the post-op course was rocky.

If there is concern about the hospital course, it is always possible to obtain another opinion.  With your father on a vent, he would be in a critical care unit.  Obtaining an opinion from another intensivist as well as a surgeon can be considered if you are not comfortable with the treatment course.

This option can be discussed with your personal physician.
