stomach ulcers - when should i be feeling some relief?

I have been diagnosed with stomach ulcers and inflammation and have been on medications for a little over 5 weeks now with really no difference.  When should I be feeling some relief from them?

What meds are you on?  and what type of ulcer?  I was feeling a little better after being on Nexium for about 3-4 weeks but still have some pain.  I go back to the Dr. on Thurs for the results of the scope and the biopsy that he did 2 weeks ago when I had my gallbladder out.

Well, in the endoscopy they found I had 2 stomach ulcers, non-cancerous, no bleeding, and no sign of H. pylori infection.  My stomach was all inflamed as well.  I was put on Carafate 3x a day,and 40mg of Nexium.  After 4 weeks of it I was in such terrible pain that, even though I didn't have any infection, I was put on two antibiotics(Biaxin and Flagyl)to see if an infection had grown and was stopping the healing process, and my dosage of Nexium was put up to 80 mg.  I still have the awful gnawing pain,no appetite and naseau every day; I guess I was just wondering when people started feeling real significant relief from ulcer pain; I think that by this time, I should be feeling a real difference.

I was diagnosed with HVC 7 yrs ago and outside of juicing,
milkthistle and a host of other herbs (Aloe Vera Juice too)
I have been trusting God for my healing and have seen really
good results. Praise God!   However, the last few weeks I have
experienced LOTS of stomach acid and gnawing pain that was waking
me up and had me in tears two nights.  My doctor says I was neg
for HPylori and although my blood work still showed elevated
enzyme levels consistent with HVC I have to admit my faith is really being tried right now. I have only been able to eat vege-
tables and little else.  Stress is perhaps my number one enemy
and I havent been able to maintain peace 'inside' even in praying. I personally feel that the spirit of fear in the world
is driving so much of these diseases and chronic disorders that
virtually unheard of even 20 yrs ago.  Anyway, I realize this
isnt a religious 'forum' but thought I'd add some thoughts.  We
all can beat these maladies thru God, and wise choices in diet
get lots of rest and learn to live while we are all dying instead
of dying while we are living?!   Make sense...anyway..God Bless
everyone who struggles with these pains and hard times..Keiffer!

I think it may just be a matter of the Dr. trying different meds for you until he gets one that works.  As long as they are sure that the ulcers are what the pain is from.  My Dr. is great for giving me samples of drugs to try for a few weeks until we find something that works, that way it will not cost me a fortune.
good luck

Thank you very much for your advice and encouragement; I am also a Christian, and I must also admit, completely trusting God in this situation has been very trying.  I have had ulcers and inflammation for over a year now, with lower abdom. pain, whose cause is still to be discovered.  God has been such a comfort this past year when other poeple just can't understand or sympathize with you, but I don't think I've truly trusted that He will heal me.  Lying awake on those sleepless nights, there seems to be no end to the constant miserable feeling.  I too struggle with finding peace, and the true joy in just everyday living.  Thank you for the quote...I think I'm just letting myself die inside a little bit each day, instead of "living while I am dying."  Well, at least I know you and I share the comfort of a pain-free future in heaven someday, however far off that may be, and we just have to keep pressing towards that goal.  Thank you for your words of encouragement, I will be praying for you, and hope things get better for you.
In Christ,
smiles4ever
