what is Ulserated proctytis

Is there any way to prevent this from coming back of is it a life long didisease. Is there any way to keep it under control with special diet, my doctor perscribed suppositories. will they cure it or just keep it under control?How long do you stay on the medicine? is it by episode or a continous thing>

Ulcerative proctitis can almost be controlled i believe.  I know that there is no gaurantee that you will never have another flair up, but the suppositories will make the flair ups less frequent and less severe.  In some cases, ulcerative proctits can spread into the colon, and in that case you would have to stay on medication.  I'm not exactly sure if you need to be on daily medication for ulcerative proctitis, but i know that its a life long condition.  You should be ok!!  Don't worry, ulcerative proctitis is the best one to get if you have to get any of them.  Left sided colitis and the rest of them can put you in excrutiating pain, and also, with ulcerative proctits there is no increase in the risk of developing colon cancer like there is with more involved ulcerative colitis. Ask your doc any questions you have so that you know exactly what you're dealing with, and you'll know how to treat it.
