paraesophageal hernia

paraesophageal hernia

I was diagnoised with a  paraesophageal hernia  about 6 months ago.  Most of the time I do not have any problems.   About every 6-8 weeks I have severe arm, shoulder and neck Pain which is accompanied with nausea and sometimes vomiting.  When these "episodes" occur it usually starts about 2 hours after I eat and will last 8-12 hours.

I understand the most severe complication is a strangulated stomach.  It is my understanding there is no way to predict if/when this will occur.

What are other possible complications if I choose not to have the surgery?

Is there anyone else who has experienced a similar condition and how did you deal with it?

Thanks for your help
