13 month old with white stool

My 13 month old nephew has been having some odd symptoms for about a week now.  His stool is completely white with a cottage cheese texture.  He was seen by a family doctor today and they said that he is not sick enough for it to be any disease that is typical for these stool changes.  So they said it is just "a bug" running it's course.  I'm not completely convinced of this, so I'm just looking for some more opinions.

Thanks!!

I had done some research on this and that seems to be what I am finding too.  The doc said to come back next week if it does not resolve and they will do some blood work.  I'm just concerned that it could turn more serious if nothing is done before that.  I don't know how long it can go without attention.

Thanks for your response!!

Please pursue this further. It may be different in children, but when an adult has a completely white stool it suggests their flow of bile is being retarded. Bile is released as a yellow-green color and as it's acted on in the digestive tract it turns the brown we associate with the 'normal' bowel movement.

A white stool does not sound completely healthy.
