15 DAYS HAVE HAD TEST ANY SUGGESTIONS???

  i HAVE HAD DIARRHEA FOR THE LAST 15 DAYS AND TERRIBLE GAS PAIN AND BLOATING
  i HAD A COLONOSPY YESTERDAY THAT WAS NORMAL THE DOC SAID ITS JUST A VIRUS
  RESUME A NORMAL DIET,  WELL THE PROBLEM IS MY NORMAL DIET HAS BEEN LIQUIDS
  ONLY ANY TIME I TRY RICE BANANAS OR TOAST THE CRAMPING STARTS AND I FEEL AWFUL
  I HAD BLOOD WORK AND CBC WAS NORMAL,  STOOL SAMPLE WAS NORMAL,
  I HAVE LOST 17 POUND I'M 5'9" AND NOW WEIGH 130 THEY TELL ME TO TAKE AMODIUM
  AND I HAVE THE MAXIMUM DOSE EACH DAY TO NO AVAIL. SOMETIMES THE
  CRAMPING BEGINS ON RIGHT SIDE UNDER RIB CAGE IS THERE ANY SUGGESTIONS
  FROM YOU GUYS?? I REALLY WANT TO EAT REAL FOOD AGAIN THANKS

Dear Jill,
Most bacterial and viral causes of gastroenteritis are self limited usually lasting only lasting less than 3 weeks.  Persistent symptoms for longer than 3 weeks should raise the possibility that you may have acquired  an unusual infection e.g. giardia, parasite.  The appropriate stool tests should be done  Sometimes, the acute infection can alter the enteric flora so that there is a persistence of altered function (loose stools etc).  Finally, there may be a concurrent condition that has either been unmasked by the infection or coincidentally developed e.g. celiac disease gastroparesis, inflammatory bowel disease.  
Persistent symptoms will require further visits to your physician for further testing.
