2 month chronic stomach pain in child

by Nanrenee, Sep 21, 2007 01:55PM
My six year old has had a chronic stomach pain for 2 months. She has had an endoscopy, blood tests, and ultrasound. I am waiting to see a specialist on Oct.16. The only thing the doctor
found to be suspicious was a cholesterol count of 196
She is not overweight. 46pds she eats well and is active. Would high cholesterol be causing this pain in her abdomen? There is no gerd.

A high cholesterol is not likely to be the cause.

I agree with the ultrasound and endoscopy.  A CT scan can give more detail than a CT scan.  You can also consider blood and stool tests looking for celiac disease or malabsorption.

These options should be discussed with your child's pediatric gastroenterologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
