5 Year old Son Blood While making bowl movement

My 5 year old step son was having a bowl movement tonight and when he wiped there was a somewhat large about of blood on the tissue.  There was no blood in the towlet and when his father checked his behind there were no signs of any blood discharge.  Should this be something we should be concerned with?  This is the first time this has happened.  Please give me some feed back.

Thank you

Jennifer, is he experiencing any constipation? If so, then I'd look to see if he's got hemorrhoids from straining. If that's occurring, then the blood could be a result of that. But if nothing has been going on, I think you should consult with your peds person. In the meantime, continue to monitor the situation.
