5 yr old male with ? tummy pain

For the past week more so then not my 5 year old  Gary has been complaining that he hurts right about the pubic area but below the tummy. it is lower, closer to the pubic bone then the actually belly. could this be a hernia? what are the symptoms. would it hurt if I were to touch it lightly. any ideas form here would be helpful. I don't want to rush him right inot the doctors for this due to the fact I am not sure if it is just gas.
thank you for any help

No ther is no fever no vomitting, no pain in the lower right quadrient. there is no rebound I can touch it without hurting him and when it hurts he slows down, ans last for about 2 hours MAX. then he is right back to running and playing and as happy as can be, he does now have a cough and this has been maybe not a week, and it is the center lower part of his belly just obove his pubic bone.
I have not taken him to see his doctor due to the fact that I have been to the doctors just about every single day with my youngest son who has asthma and a heart condtion and we are trying to figure what is going on with him and then I had to go today to see that pain specialist for myself about how bad my tumors are hurting me I have a disease called Neuorfibromatosis and the tumors I have at least 10 in just my right foot are extremely painful and with 6 people in the family and only one car, mine dies, it is easier said then done and IF I thought my sons life was in jeporady then he would have already been seen, I know it is not his appendix, he is also not guarding at all.

Hi Michelle

The most common reasons for problems with stomach with kids are infections, passage-block or food allergies. At least what I from my memory can list right now.
Infections are caused by virus or bacterias, and even if you MIGHT NOT have to worry about passage blockages for your son, I think I would have taken my daughter to a physician for an exam, just to be on the safe side.

A hernia would hurt and be tender. Gas will pass (that's a fact...). Which side of the stomach is it? How long has it been hurting? Has he got fever? How is his general condition (does he play and interact with the others like usual)? Are his hands colder than usual?
Do at least call the medical office. They could tell you whether they would like to take a look at him or whether you can wait.

I hope he - and you - feel better soon!

In a child his age that could be appendicitis and very serious. It would not be wise to wait around. He should see a doctor ASAP!! Because if it is appendicitis, it could burst and possibly kill him.

Has he been running a temp? Nausea or vomiting? Pain on the lower right side? Stop making your baby suffer and take him to the ER!
