7 yr. old with projectile vomiting.

My 7 yr. old son, with asthma, will normally throw up during an asthma attack, which happen about 3 times a year, but for the last year or so he throws up even though his asthma is not bothering him at all.  The poor child will throw up in his sleep, the middle of the night, early in the morning, while waiting for the bus, at grandma's, a friends, anywhere. I took him to the doctor who is having him have an Upper GI series tomorrow morning, but he also complains alot of stomach pain.

This morning he wasn't hungry, but grabbed a bite size donut while waiting for the bus, within minutes the pain started, gradually increasing, but he went anyway,( I told him he could wait and I'd drive him) but he wanted to go, by the time he got to school the nurse called and said she had to go help him cause he was so sick to his stomach.  The doctor keeps saying maybe he's too active, he's laying on his stomach area causing the discomfort, it could just be gas causing this, etc.

But this kid has had an "episode" at least 7 times in December alone!  And sometimes his vomit smells like rotten egg, even his burps do too. His bowels have been very loose, almost blond in color, not normal.  Should I wait for the GI results or go ahead and make an appointment with a specialist anyway?  If it were right after he ate I could understand, but for him to be woke up by vomiting is very strange. Does this sound like a hernia? The doctor doesn't seem to feel one, and he thinks if there were an obstruction he'd be much sicker, as if this weren't bad enough. Please email ***@****
