Prior healthy male, mid-30s, with no health problems (I never got
sick) until several years ago. This is how my problems started--
(1)On two occassions three months apart I went out after work and
had a few beer, went home and ate dinner, and each night woke up
sweatingSweating
Sweating - absent and not able to get a good
breathBreath alcohol test
Breath holding spell
Breath odor of air. Went to the
hospital...no heart or any problems found.(2)Gradually developed
right upper quad abdominal pains (which I still generally have).
Started seeeing my
familyBirth control and family planning
Choosing a primary care provider
Ewing’s sarcoma
Family troubles - resources physician...physical and all the tests
he knew to try--no problems. Then to the Gastro. doctors where I
had numerous procedures including 2 upper GIs, sphinterodomy, all
sorts of medicines (I am currently on octrotide). One of the tests
indicated that it was my gallbladder and they removed it, however,
there was no change in my adbominal pains. The problems with food
after meals did not come until much later. I had every hospital
test that they could think of doing (x-rays, scans, etc.).All of
this has occured over the last two plus years. What they
determined was that I have a "
dumpingDumping syndrome type syndrome" from
pyloricPyloric stenosis
stenosisAortic stenosis
Blocked tear duct
Carotid stenosis, x-ray of the left artery
Carotid stenosis, x-ray of the right artery
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Mitral stenosis
Pulmonary valve stenosis
Pyloric stenosis
Renal artery stenosis
Spinal stenosis that I had as a baby. I have done extensive research
trying to better understand my condition but have found very
little on the dumping sydrome and nothing on any connection with
pylorus stenosis. I have tried to keep this question as short as
possible without leaving anything important out.

Dear Alan,
I doubt that your symptoms are a manifestation of dumping syndrome, which occurs after gastric resection. Dumping syndrome refers to rapid emptying of the stomach. I wonder if your symptoms are related to delayed gastric emptying i.e. gastroparesis. Discuss with your physician the possibility of stopping the GI meds and then having a radioisotope gastric emptying study.
