AFter ERCP and Liver Biopsy

by Tantrumbaby, Aug 08, 2008 04:08PM
I just had an ERCP done and right after the procedure I had to go in for a Liver Biopsy.  I am waiting for the biopsy results.  Hoping to get the result in the next few days.  I am just wondering, is it normal to feel discomfort all along the stomach muscles from the very top to the very bottom?  I have not eaten very well in the past 4 days because of the dull pain and anytime I eat a little bit, it hurts, is this normal?  Anytime I do eat I can feel the food digesting and causes pressure.  Is this normal?  I was asymptomatic, nothing was wrong with me until I got routine blood tests done and liver enzymes showed up high and then cysts are along my bile duct as well as in my liver.  Should I be worried?  Cancer cells are negative and cysts are benign.  Any additional info would be great as I am very sore and do not feel great even 3 days after the ERCP and 2 days after the liver biopsy.  Oh the doctor left a stent in my bile duct too...would that affect how myu food digests and cause pain?

After having had an ERCP, liver biopsy and having a stent in place, you actually sound like you're if fairly good shape. And yes, you can expect to be uncomfortable - your insides have been rather roughly man-handled.

The stent will help to reduce the chance of your getting pancreatitis. It will allow for the decent flow of bile and pancreatic fluids from those organs to the duodenum.
