Abdominal pain, H-Pylori, acid relux

Abdominal pain, H-Pylori, acid relux

I'm a 41 year old female, healthy up until a year ago, fairly active, approx 20 lbs overweight.  I had mastoiditis (severe ear infection that spread to skull base), was on heavy antibiotics, shortly thereafter developed acid reflux/indestion symptoms (throat symptoms and severe belching).  Repeatedly visited Dr., presribed Pariot three different times, didn't work.  Pharmasist suggested I be tested for H-Pylori, did so, came back positive for H-Pylori.  Back on triple batch of antibiotics for a week.  Still waiting for breath test results to see if infection cured.  Last few months, even prior to my H-Pylori diagnosis, my acid reflux throat symptoms improved although still there (mild but constant), but belching worse than ever.  And now latley I've been experiencing upper abdominal pain at night, wakes me up.  It lasts a couple hours, seems to be worse when I lay on my right side.  Sometimes comes with mild nausea.  I thought it was just severe indigestion but the pain's getting worse.  It doesn't happen often, maybe every 2 to 3 weeks, it comes & goes in 1 night. Not sure if this matters but the upper part of my stomach seems to protrude slightly and is harder than the bottom of my stomach, been like this for a couple years though, not sure if this is necessarily abnormal.  Recent ultrasound results came back normal except "mild prominence of common bile duct 5mm".  My Dr. didn't really have an answer as to what could cause this or if it should be tested further (something about a test that requires radiation, might not be worth the risk).  Once again, told me to come back if symptoms get worse.

Although my symtpoms aren't so severe that I can't cope with them - the acid reflux is mild now, belching severe but I can live with it, the night abdominal pain is severe but infrequent - I wonder if this is something I should be digging into?  I've been to my Dr. so many times over the last year, I'm starting to feel frustrated with lack of 'getting to the bottom of it'.  I usually leave with the advice "see what happens".  I'm from a small town, my Dr's young.  I just want to make sure I'm not missing something.  Could it be gallstones or could it be something more serious like cancer?  Should I ask to dig further?

Thank you!
