Acid Reflux - coughing

I've had sporadic issues with acid reflux in the past. HAd success with prevacid, but trying to conceive, so went off it a year ago. I was fighting a bad cold all week, developed a bad cough over the past 3 days. Thought it was the cold. But now that all cold symptoms are gone, no mucus, etc., I'm thinking it's reflux again. I've eaten some classic triggers--tomato sauce, garlic, chocolate, etc. The cough is absolutely dry and uncontrollable when I lie down. I never really had a cough when my reflux was bad in the past, I would get the wheezing and throat tightening. Does this mean it's worse? My husband had some prilosec, so I took one today and will see what happens. Does this dry cough sound like a reflux cough? How long til I see some relief from the prilosec?

My husband takes Prilosec for his acid reflux, and I believe he saw results within 24 hours.  There is something going around that keeps you lingering for weeks with a dry cough.  I know so many who have it including myself, and I'm on my second round of antibiotics.  My husband's reflux is bad, but no coughing.  I have never heard of coughing with reflux, but then we learn something everyday.  Take care....
