Comment to sufferers - I recently tried an alternative to Protonix (like Nexium and other AR meds). Try raw LIQUID HONEY (1-2 teaspoons), take a slice of red delicious organic apple at bedtime. If this doesn't work, try LIQUID HONEY MIXED WITH ORGANIC APPLE CIDER VINEGAR. I have been taking these meds for a couple of years, and recently they stopped working, and had been experiencing very bad chest pains (heartburn). Tried just the honey and for two days - practically NOTHING! There are a host of other things that you probably already know - eating lighter meals at bedtime, little to no caffeine, chocolate, etc, but this worked even with a cup of coffee!! Give it a try and let me know if it works for you. You could be off these drugs forever! Who knows what the long term effects are (I'm curious to see if this thread will even make it into this dialogue). Good luck.
