Acid Reflux

Can Acid Reflux be a direct or indirect cause of Hypersalivation?  I stopped taking Acihpex about a month ago because I concluded the two week Triple Therapy for H. Pylori(I am now negative for H. Pylori).  Also, I have not had heartburn for over two months.  I have suffered from Hypersalivation for about three months.  I went to a ENT today and he did a VideoStroboscope on my throat.  He feels my saliva is rather bubbly and the cause is possibly related to acid reflux.  He recommended I go back on Aciphex or another PPI and to take Benadryl.  This seems to make sense.  I asked my GI about my hypersalivation problem but he did not know what the cause could be.  After the Endoscopy and the H. Pylori visit, the GI doesn't wanted to be bothered.  Anyone else have a similar experience?

CalGal, thanks.  You are probably right.  I should not have stopped Acihpex.  My GI doc was uncooperative when I told him about the water bash(it's like my mouth is always full of bubbly saliva).  The GI said "I don't know why your are hypersalivating".  I probably didn't word the question properly.   I have started on Prilosec again with the Bendaryl.  Aciphex is rather expensive($146/month).

I am in Southern California?  Are in Cal?

There is a condition related to acid reflux called water brash. I'm not sure if that's what you're describing but it might be described as 'hypersalivation.'

As far as your stopping the Aciphex, just because you're now negative for H. pylori doesn't mean your acid reflux is gone. You may need to continue with some medication and diet change for quite awhile to try to make sure that you're actually okay, and just not 'not feeling heartburn.' Lack of the feeling of heartburn doesn't actually mean a lot in many cases.
