Acute Diverticulitis and family history

I was recently diagnosed with acute diverticulitis. The flagyl and cipro seem to be resolving the symptoms but I feel a dull ache in the sigmoid colon area after 10 days. I had a more severe episode about 3 years ago and the doctors did not know what it was at the time. In hindsight I have to assume it was diverticulitis as well. My father has ulcerative colitis and his brother has had a colonectomy due to colon cancer. I am 31 years old. I am scheduled to see a Gastroenurologist next month. My questions are: 1) I developed an eczema on my face around the same time of my first episode, could these be related?, 2) Given my genetics, could it be that I may have something more serious than diverticulitis?, 3) i guess i am still recovering from a heavy blow of fever, diahhearea, etc. but I have been overly tired even though my symptoms subsided 7 or 8 days ago.
