After BM

After BM

Any ideas?? About 3 years ago my father passed away, a very difficult situation. I was 42 years old at the time. My bowel movement changed… usual softer, more often and sometimes diarrhea. Concerned I went to the doctor, ultrasound, fecal blood test, and a Barium Enema. All came back negative. Since this time with diet change more liquids I seem to have normal movements most of the time. Sometime if I go out and eat for dinner I may have a change in my normal movement, I guess this is age related. As a child I battle with constipation which gave me an adult size colon at a young age. I finally out grew this and as an adult I usually had a BM every 2 to 3 days. Now I would say every 1 to 2 days. That’s the back ground now here’s the question… when I do have a BM after wiping clean I little bit will leak, not enough to soil my pants but enough to be iterating. I must go back into the bath room for a second wipe. After this no more seepage, all normal I’m able to control my BM start and stop. When I say leakage or seepage is because I don’t know what else to call it, it is like dampness around my exit. No mess in my pants. Also no blood or mucus and never had this before age 42.

Thanks in advance for your response,

Kevin

Bowel habits can change through the years. For the leakage, you might want to consider checking with your doc to see if you have any hemorrhoids. When they're present they can be a causative factor.

You might also want to consider trying some probiotics. They can be helpful in 'normalizing' bowel habits in many individuals, and unless you're immunosuppressed they won't do any harm. Some decent brands are Digestive Advantage-IBS, Culturelle and FloraQ.
