Alcohol Effect on Cirrhoisis -1 drink and intoxicated?

My friend has stage 4 cirrhoisis and can not stop completely from drinking. He is cutting down.

It seems now that a single glass of wine or 2 results in him being intoxicated, stumbling etc...

He is a long time drinker 20 years. How can 1 or 2 glasses of wine get him intoxicated? Especially prior history is very heavy.

Thank you in advance.

Hi.  Sorry about your friend with Stage 4.  I hope he can quit altogether because the drinking will definitely eventually kill him.

If 1-2 glasses of wine is making him drunk, he's in big trouble.  This is classic with advanced cirrhosis.  His liver is no longer able to metabolize the alcohol.  The booze just circulates in his blood stream and is not being eliminated.  His breath might also smell like alcohol for a day or even two days after he has consumed his last small amount of alcohol.  I hope he can quit altogether.
