Allergic to alcohol?

by deirdre, Jun 08, 2001 12:00AM
First let me tell you that i am 23 years old.
Every time i drink any sort of alcholic beverage the next day i always get diarreah.  It does not matter if i have one glass of wine or five beers.  I drink on the weekends only usually one night.  Am i allergic to alcohol?  I do not have any allergies and i take celexa (only for the past year).  I have been this way since my daughter was born 3 years ago.  Please help!  Thanks in advance.

Before you assume you are allergic to alcohol (like i did) get a stool test for parasites.  Often times chronic diarrhea is caused by parasites like d. fragilis and giardia.  These are treatable and curable problems.  I had it done and was diagnosed with giardia lamblia.  drinking will make the diarrhea worse, however.  best of luck and i hope you feel better.
