Has anyone taken this for constipation?  I was on 8 mcg twice a day fir about 2 weeks with no improvement.  Dose was raised to 24 mcg twice a day and absolutely no improvement.  I may have a small BM if I take a dose of Miralax.
I am now having some side effects on the higher dose, some chest and throat tightness, worse bloating, more discomfort.  Reported this to the doctor (specialist at a university clinic) abpndcwas told to get an EKG done but stay on the med and give it time to work.  It's been a month and I am absolutely no better!!  Read on other boards this drip ugh has worked for many but not for me!!

Thank you,  my doctor told me to stop it as it really was not helping me after weeks of taking it. Finally told me to do a cleanse.
They now have me on Linzess, liw dies, once a day, within 2 hours I had diarrhea 3 times.  I was sick in bed all day yesterday with upper and lower abdominal pain, bloating and nausea but not sure if it was from this med.  I was also told to increase my Gabapentin up to 900 mg a day.  I hate taking any of this stuff. Thus is from my Stanford doctor and I still don't think they are sure what I have.
My GI doctor here suggested I see the surgeon again about my gallbladder as a HIDA scan showed a 19% ejection fraction. First time I saw him, he said he could take it out, I could be better, the same or worse. Not sure what to do. Can gallbladder cause nausea, bloating, constipation and large biwel pain?

Hi, the most reported common side effect of amitiza is diarrhea. It can also cause abdominal distension, nausea and abdominal pain. It can also cause fecal incontinence. Like your doctor suggested you can continue this medications for a few more days before you give up this medication. Regards.
