Anal/Rectal Itching, anyone? (Blastocystis Hominis)

by healing113, May 19, 2008 02:16PM
Due to rectal/anal itching, it was recommended that I take a stool test which revealed that I have B.H.  I am going to attempt the natural approach first with the help of a Naturopath who is also an M.D.  Does anyone else who has been diagnosed as having B.H. experience rectal/anal itching?!  What have you done to help with this most unpleasant symptom?

I don't have B.H, but I did have anal itching quite often, funny thing is I changed toliet paper, I don't use Charmins anymore, but pampers baby wipes, and haven't had anal itching since.

I realize I didn't give much information...I have had retal/anal itching off and on for years.  I'm 38.  5'4" and 117 lbs.  I don't believe I have pinworms  because I've never passed them to anyone and I've never seen them, inspite of a couple of attempts to catch them with tape.  I've even taken PinX twice.  I do think I have piles, which I know can cause itching, but the place that itches the most is a couple of centimeters away from my anus.  It's a deep itch... I scratch it, often at night when I'm half asleep, it scabs, sometimes heals and the cycle repeats.   I've had that spot biopsied, because my MD wanted to rule out cancer.  It's worse at night, especially after sex.  It's also worse when it's wet.  I have allergies to grasses, dust, dog/cat dander, tree pollen... I also have many food 'intolerences' that seem to change.  I'm now on a very restricted diet (basically eating only clean meat and veggies) and am being treated for Blastocystis Hominis.  But, I'm told that it can take up to at YEAR.  and my husband and I are wanting to get pregnant.  I don't know if I can last.... Treating B.H. may not even be the cause of my itching.  Arg.
