what is the risk of getting peritonitis and ascites from anal play? how would i know to be seen, since mild cases are almost unnoticable?
ill be talking to my GI today.
CalGal is correct that crohns is a lifelong condition. In the future you need to be more careful with what you do to pleasure yourself. There are special toys devoted to this that are much safer than using vegetables.
Still waiting to see my doctor.
current symptoms are rectal spasm, itching, stinging pain. all minor. There is NO visible blood. Its not difficult to move my bowels. i do tend to clench a few more times than usual.
As i mentioned before, this has been ongoing. Something recently made it worse.
Course of action:
Mostly liquid diet of peppermint tea, coconut water, gatorade, bean soup, psylium husk powder, raw honey, ginger, nd various fruits.
im using a topical ointment, and balancing physical activity. Ive considered inserting my raw honey into my rectum, as it is filled with enzymes that promote healing. ill talk to my doctor about that first. Its safe according to pubmed.
I really am motivated to get this healed as quickly as possible.
Crohn's colitis is considered an autoimmnue disease and as such the person with this condition will have it for life. You many not be experiencing severe symptoms at this time, but you will never fall in the category of 'not having it anymore.'
Fissures and fistulas are well-known to those with IBD's and the conditions are known to unfortunately occur or 'go along' with those conditions.
Crohns/Colitis. I was diagnosed at 14...im 21 now.
ive controlled it with diet, to the point that my GI claims i dont have it anymore though.
Id like to find out if it is involved in my current problem.
These fissures/tears were brought on by multiple things: Riding my bike, intimate play, and various other factors, such as wiping too much or too rough, as well as increased bowel movements and irregularity.
Just a big combination of common things. and some bad luck.
Were you told specifically by a doctor that you had crohns?
I do in fact have chrones/colitis, and IBS.
I would like to look at this from the perspective of my illness not playing a part though, as to not rule anything out.
what do you know about peritonitis?
am i at risk because of fissures on the inside of my rectum?
Fissures are superficial cuts in the membranes. If you had a perforated bowel, you would be in a hospital right now.
Fissures can occur many places on the body, but if you don't have another GI disorder, I'd be skeptical of your other GI problems being fissures. However, it is definitely possible that some GI condition is causing the fissure.
I don't know how long they get, but they are like paper cuts. You can get them from trauma to the anus. If you got them from wiping roughly, they would be on the outside.
Because of your fever escalating, I recommend calling your GI office first thing in the morning and ask for a nurse. Tell the nurse what you've told us and your increased temp and tell her you don't think it can wait a month.
Let us know how that goes!
also, can anal fissures disrupt and upset the whole GI tract? upper and lower?
called my GI doc. appointment is one month away. hopefully he calls me personally and wants to see me sooner.
is an anal tear/fissure a perforation of the bowel? if so why arent anal fissures as serious, and often times heal themselves wirh no intervention.
How big can they be, and how many can you have? Might they go septic. My tempurature is about 100.7º.
Does it make a difference if you get a fissure by trauma or wiping roughly?
Well im definitely doing the things i have to do.
Do fissures upset your whole GI tract? gurgling stomache, uppee and lower bowel?
Anal fissures are extremely painful and of course, made worse by continual diarrhea. I would call your GI and see if he wants to see you or send you straight to a colorectal surgeon. They just have a scary name...but they can take a close look at what's going on because of the equipment they have on hand. If your temperature starts to really spike, id recommend going to the ER. You are right that infection is very possible/probable and sepsis can turn nasty very quickly.
I hope you feel better and that they can treat the cause of the diarrhea, which will allow the fissures to heal.
I've been in your shoes. I know it is not fun and worse...not exactly something you want to talk to people about.
When something like a tear happens, it's really best to consult with a gastroenterologist or perhaps colo-rectal person. They would be the best persons to to make sure problems can be kept to a minimum.
