Anal itching!

by Savvy101, May 07, 2009 06:20PM
Ok, so I've been having problems with itching around my anus for years now.  It's always in the immediate anal area. The itching is never constant so I haven't done anything about it.  There's no sign of a rash or anything of the type.
I've been trying to figure out some sort of pattern associated with the itching. It seems the itching always starts when I perspire and usually ends when I shower.
I use an ointment called A&D (contains lanolin and petrolatum).  It helps the itching stop but it's so aggravating because all my other co-workers and friends don't have to run to the bathroom to smear an ointment on their anus when they start to sweat.

Is there anything I can do to end this eternal itching problem?? It's so frustrating.

Thank you so much,
-Savvy

Have you been checked for parasites? They are well known to cause anal itching and other symptoms.

Go to the doctor!

I have to wash my anus everytime I defecate or I will itch. I have sensitive skin and also I have frequent diarrhea from digestive problems. I believe that some of the irritation is caused from digestive juices moving too quickly through my gut.

Sorry to hear that man. Have you tried some powder? That might help some too.
Let me know man

Hmm powder might help.  I've thought about it lately, I'll try it.

Ed, I think that's kinda what I deal with too.  I've always had an odd stomach and I have diarrhea almost 24/7.  It's always extremely loose anyway.  The doctors couldn't ever tell me why.  Is it possible for fecal matter to leak out and cause anal irritation?

Sorry for the double post, but no I haven't been checked for parasites.  I've always thought about it, but wouldn't that cause itching at night or in the mornings?  Not at odd times of the day?
