Anal polyps

The other day I was bathing and I noticed I have a fairly large sized
polyp just inside the anal canal.  My doctor does not work on the
weekends but I plan to call his office on Monday for an appointment
and referral back  to my GI specialist.  I mentioned this to my GI
specialist about a year ago when it was very tiny and he said not to
worry about it and it would go away.  It hasn't and it's gotten much
much bigger.

I do have colitis and lately I have been having some discomfort in my abdomen area. I am really freaked out by this finding and that this polyp may be cancerous.  it's also in an area that's quite painful.  Has anyone had experience with this?

You will need COLONOSCOPY (arrange it SOON), during which the polyp (if it si polyp) will be removed and send to tersting to see if it is cancerous. The whole colon will be then examined for other polyps.

Such a polyp may produce some mucus, it may bleed, or cause pain.
