Ok so after reading this site for a bit I have found that I am not alone in this. I have the same symptoms as everyone else sulfer/egg like burps that after anywhere from six to eight hours turns into severe pain only relieved by vomitting and sometimes diareaha. What complicates things for me is my physical reactions
are rediculously violent. When I sneeze I literally I wake the neighbors in the house over from mine. So one could imagine what dry heaving for 18 hours does to my body. It usually takes me two full days to recover. I am worried about future heart attacks when I get older caused by this.
So far by reading this site and gathering info I can say that a lot of people who think they know what is wrong really don't. I think they may just be in a form of remission while coincidentally they are trying a new treatment. I was about to go into surgery to have my gallbladder removed (since it only has 26% function) this week and my gi said that my symptoms were not totally the gallbladder. Thank goodness for him thinking about the real root of the problem rather than just trying to recoup proceedure fees. It sounds like a lot of you weren't that lucky because you are still sick even after the gallbladder surgery.
So now for my point, I would like everyone with these issues to post up the symptoms, duration, total years when dealing with this factors that you believe cause this, and possible/definite diagnosis. I will direct my specialist to this area and have him see what he comes up with. For some of us there may not be a cure to the cause of the condition, but if enough people give enough symptoms we may be able to treat the individual episodes more effectively. Personally I would prefer to keep my body parts if I can treat my illness without having to remove them. So me first.
Been suffering with this since I was 8. I am now 32.
Total sickness time from burp to relief is about 24 hours.
Mild disfunction of gallbladder.
Vomitting is only relief of abdominal pain relief is only about ten minutes
vomit is bubbly and sometimes contains bile

of time. Those of you that suffer with this, I know how you feel, I would not wish this on anybody. I know what it's like to have a doctor call it ibs and tell me to put a hot water bottle on my stomach. (I wanted to punch him) I don't care about the cause yet because it seems like no one offers a good treatment and in their search for the cause they tend to forget that someone is trully sick in the meantime and no one in my opinion actually has a clue what is really happening.
I began having the symptoms when I was 23, and they lasted until I was 40. Exact same thing as everyone else. In the beginning the burps would last for a day or two, then the vomiting and diarhea (diarrhea) began, usually quite violently. After a day of that, I would usually need an entire day to recover. In the beginning the attacks were not as frequent, perhaps once a year. By the time I was 39 I was getting them several times a year. I had my galbladder removed and have not had an attack since. It's been 3 years now, and I have never been so happy. Those attacks were the worst thing in the world! No doctor could diagnose the problem. I was checked for all the usual suspects: h.pylori
, food poisoning, lactose intolerance, etc etc. I finally told my doctor that I thought it was my galbladder because my grandmother had the exact same symptoms and it stopped after her galbladder was removed. The surgery was done laproscopically so it was barely invasive. The recovery time was short, and I haven't had any problems since. I haven't had to change my diet or anything. If you're sufferng from these awful attacks, I would definitely recommend having your galbladder removed. Good luck!
This is sleeper362 again. I had my appointment with my GI doctor and he diagnosed me with stomach migraines. The theory makes sense to me but he gave me pain and anti nausea medicine and hopefully they will work. I did have what felt like the start of another episode, took the medicine, and it never came to a peak. So lets see what happens next time.
Interesting that your doctor called them stomach migraines. I've had migraines my whole life, but never got nausea or vomiting with them. I read about Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome noting that it can be tied to migraines. Essentually, I think CVS is a stomach migraine. Even though I didn't have a migraine at the time, I've been able to take my migraine medicine (Axert for me, similar to Imitrex) and it stopped the burping, vomitting, and diarrhea attack every time I tried it. I did have my gall bladder taken out, but I was still getting the attacks. Then I started taking creamed papaya every day and that has prevented them entirely. Until I run out or stop taking the papaya and the attacks will return in about 7 days. I highly recommend the creamed papaya (Healthmate) as a preventative and then Axert to stop an attack in progress. The papaya tastes nasty. I just take two big swigs worth in the morning and then before bed.
