Antral erosive gastritis

Endoscopy confirmed antral erosive gastritis following episode of Melaena over 4 days and also confirmed a 5cm sliding oesophageal hernia (which was previously 4cm). I have had the hernia for years and effected lifestyle changes (diet and weight) but the gastritis dx is new. Problem is I had sedation for the endoscopy and can't remember what they told me about it afterwards. I have searched online and think I should be following it up. Thankfully they gave me a discharge note from which I have the confirmed diagnosis. They also did a quick biopsy (negative for HPV); the question I have is, does gastritis just settle itself or should I now go back and see my GP for some meds?

Steve
