Any ideas at all?

Hi there,
My 4 year old daughter has suffered on and off for the past couple of years with stomach pain and diarrhea. At the moment she has no stomach pain but constant yellow/beige coloured diarrhea. She has a constant 'pot belly' and eats ALL of the time.
She was under a gastroenterologist at the childrens hosp but he has discharged her as her symptoms went away for a couple of months and the blood tests he has done all came back fine (apart from her liver function with one enzyme being quite high - doc put this down to her growing and has ordered repeat tests in 6-12 months to check levels are normal). My daughter has a citrus intolerance, eating oranges etc will make her have a bout of tonsillitis.
I treated her for worms a month or so back using Ovex and her bloated stomach went more or less flat by the next day, her eating habits slowed to a normal rate, her stools were normal and she slept through the night without waking. Part of me is thinking that maybe all of her problems are caused by worms? However, within a week or so of the treatment for worms, her stomach was bloated again and the loose stools returned.
My mother has IBS, her father has IBS and my sister (teenager) has crohns disease so bad that shes had part of her bowel and intestines removed, so there is a history of problems in the family.

I am just wondering what other people would think of this? Is this caused by worms (should i treat her again and see if the stomach swelling stops and see if her bowels return to normal?) or could this be something else.. ?

Her next appointment with the registrar at the hospital is the middle of October.

Any ideas at all would be great.
Many Thanks.

I sent you a message!  I wouldn't use the worm treatment again. They're highly toxic and very hard on the liver. Her liver enzyme test could be high from that or having to remove all the toxins from parasites constantly. Yeast alone releases 79 highly toxic toxins into the body anytime it feeds on sugar, carbs, and when it dies. It's like yeast and sugar fermenting in bread to make it rise. When you eat, it begins fermenting food, multiplying, and bloats you up like a loaf of bread. I've never heard of a liver enzyme being high in children because of growth. One of yeasts toxins is acetyl aldehyde which is basically alcohol and very hard on the liver obviously. A Colonoscopy or stool samples will not show yeast over growth and yeast is normal to be in the intestines/stools. When there is way too much yeast, it becomes  pathogenic and a very big problem. Doctors do not recognize yeast as a problem and most just laugh in your face if you even bring it up but it is a very real and increasing health issue. I had to have several allergy tests and an ELISA ASSAY to get diagnosed. Has she ever suffered any thrush (white patches, in the mouth) or yeast related diaper rash when she was a baby? Is there a white film on her tongue? If so it's more than likely yeast and shouldn't be there. The infection can make you feel like you are starving all the time. I know and it's horrible, I eat massive amounts of food and still only weigh 100 lbs. Have never been able to gain weight. Oh, and wanted to warn you, if she does suffer from yeast overgrowth and you do  either the vitaklenz or dr. natura, she may not feel to well for a few days, when parasites die they release toxins and can make you feel like you have the flu including fever, chills, body aches, sore throat, fatigue, irritability, huge increase in symptoms. It does subside and then she'll feel better. The dying/detox stage is called a herxheimer reaction.

Many thanks for your reply.
I will definitely request stool samples at her next hosp visit.
She doesn't have any sores in her mouth (unless she somehow gets a hold of citrus - due to her intolerance).

As her hosp appt is over a week away, would you suggest me treating her again with Ovex in the time being? Or.. just leave things as they are until the hosp appt?

thanks

I suggest you request stool samples be taken and checked for parasites and occult bleeding.  This would require at least 4  separate stool samples.  Make sure that the jars you are given to collect the samples have a clear liquid preservative in them, otherwise any parasites may die on the way to the lab...

Talk to your doctor about possibly putting her on a pro-biotic (this can be mixed in with her food or drink.

Does she suffer from canker sores in her mouth?  If so, definitely mention this to the doctor as well as your family history of crohns, IBS etc

Of course, as a last resort - a colonoscopy would identify any colon issues, but given her age - I'm sure they would be reluctant especially if she isn't showing any signs of malabsorption.  All the best.

Many thanks for your reply.
That's very interesting. I have no idea how to go about getting her tested though (my GP surgery are not interested at all as she has no pain with it). She was tested for celiac disease among the blood tests that her gastro doc ordered. As her next appt at the hosp is a week on monday, i will bring this up with the registrar and see if they will take it from there.
As for sugary foods, she basically eats any food she can get her hands on, constantly eating.. even waking up at night with hunger pains. I've tried getting her some other those probiotic drinks from the supermarket as I felt they would do her some good - however, getting her to drink them is very hard!!
Do you recommend me treating her for worms (again) before she goes back to the hospital on the 11th? Just to see whether her stomach swelling goes down and her toilet habits to a normal consistency?
Many thanks again and I will look into the colon cleanse.

Sounds like she definitely might have something parasitic going on, whether it be worms(pin worms usually never completely cleared with meds), or something like yeast. I was the same way as a child and teenage years were a night mare until I started doing my own research and found a doc to do testing. I had a severe intestinal yeast infection, yeast overgrowth, and many food allergies including yeasts in bread. Most allergy tests don't show things like preservatives, dye's, etc. Has she been tested for gluten allergy (Celiacs)? Yeast overgrowth gets much worse when allergens are not avoided and with intake of sugar/carbs. I had to be treated with Diflucan everyday for 2 weeks, avoid sugar and carbs, and all my food allergies. What I could eat, had to be organic to avoid chemicals, hormones, and anitbiotics. And I still to this day have problems and have to take a very strong probiotic and avoid sugar or I get terribly ill. Gastro docs don't even look at allergies or yeast causing problems like this. I saw 3 before finally being tested, diagnosed, and treated by an internal med doc. Could just be allergies causing all of her symptoms and avoiding the ones you can (like cow's milk) should help tremendously. I do a colon cleanse every year (love it), very mild, and the one I use is from Dr Natura. They have a childrens version which gets great reviews and I've wanted to have my kids use it, they suffer the same issues as me, but it's pretty pricey.
