by bnlgirll, May 26, 2008 06:01PM
I have had severe gastoparesis and total gut dismotility. I had a Gasrtic pacemaker implanted 6 months ago. I get botox injections every 3 months. Is there anyone eles that has had any break through thing happen with this? Anyone know of anything that helps this problem? Thanks

I also have gastroparesis but have only been on motility drugs for a couple of months.  Placed on domperidone and was getting good results but had to have my gallbladder removed and had complications.  All the pain meds and anesthesia sent the belly back out of wack.  My doc believes in domperidone before anything drastic.  Two other doctors said it would not work, but it actually did.  The bloating was better and the full feeling was going away.  Now back to square one.  Is anything that you are doing helping at all?  Were you on motility drugs before?  Reglan did nothing for me.  Thanks

I was on Reglan, cytotec, phenergan, and zofran I didn't get many result from the regla but I still take it because it is suspose to increase motility. I was in the hospital for a month last year while I couldn't hold down a thing. They put in the gastric pacemaker which has help alot but not all the way. It worse though. So now I have 2 pacemakers one for my tummy and one for my heart. Cytotec is not for woman that are going to because pregnant because it can make you lose a baby. But with all the drugs and injections I do ok.  The reason why I am always looking for more info is because I'm 27 and getting botox every 3 months for the rest of my life is alot. Thanks for sharing your info.

I am not as ill as you are, but I noticed awhile back that some beers helped me a lot. I was able to eat more normally and not feel so ill. Wine made no difference, so it was not the alcohol. A nutritionist I talked with suggested it might be the hops. I bought some hop tea a couple weeks ago and drink a cup every night. Some days I feel almost normal, while in general I feel so much better.

I checked an herbal and found that hops have been used for 1000 years for stomach problems.

Have any of you tried Amitiza? My gastro doc wants to put me on that for my motility issues, but I don't like the side effects. Would love to hear from real people if they have taken it and their thoughts on it. I don't know of any other drugs used for motility besides Reglan, which I won't use.
Thanks for any help!
