Any surgery after gastrojejenostomy

by selams, Dec 12, 2008 04:19AM
Some 11 years ago, I had two operations: for perforated duodenal ulcer and a year after truncal vagatomy and gastrojejenostomy. After the second operation, I had been suffering a lot due to reflux. I have been taking omeprazole most of the time but no improvement of course it reduces a little bit in burning sensation although burning is not my measure problem. If medication is not working, what surgeical procedures do I have?

If this was not a Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy, it may be possible to convert it to a Roux-en-Y which may be of some help. However, it's only something that can be evaluated by very specialized surgeons.

If your gastrojejunostomy was connected to the posterior wall of the stomach and the pylorus was removed, it may be that your stomach is emptying to the stoma that was created.

But again, you need to consult with a specialist to check out your options.
