Anyone else have these pains?

by Sasha32, Oct 25, 2001 12:00AM
I am 32 yr old female that has been diagnosed with severe gerd, I am just wondering if i am the only one with these symptoms, I get the chest pains of course, but i also get pain in my left shoulder, arm, hand gets numb and now it is moving to my left hip, leg and knee area, also i just started getting sharp pains at the base of my neck in the front. I have taken every med out there until it stops working have now been on nexium for 18 wks and it is not working like it used to, does anyone know if there is something else wrong?  Thanks

Have they checked you for a hiatal hernia?  That would cause the chest pains to radiate down your arm and make you feel like you are having a heart attack.  Also, you said you were on Nexium.  Ask your doctor if you can increase your dose to 2 per day (1 in the morning and 1 at night).  I take 2 per day and it works much better.  Hope you find whats causing your pain soon.  Take care.

it sound as though a upper scope is the test your doctor needs to run ,also being a patient of gerd it has a way of making doctors miss other possible health problems. i would ask your doctor to run  test for hiatal hernia as baseball mom had sugested it sounds like she could be correct, but the only way to find out for sure is to have the test done .if your doctor does not want to order the test you should seek a second opion .which is always a good idea.you may want to seek the advice of a gastro/digestive specialest for best results.i hope you find the answers you're looking for.good luck

HI, WELL I THOUGHT I HAVE GERDS AND AFTER MY ENDOSCOPE, THE DOCTOR SAID EVERY THING WAS FINE? WHAT EVER THAT MEAN. BUT ANYWAY I HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS YOU. OR AT LEAST I HAD THE MILD STOMACH DISCOMFORT AND I WAS TAKING REGLAN BUT I STOPPED, BECAUSE IT STOPED. I TRIED TO JUST CHANGE MY EATING HABITS. BUT FAR AS THE PAIN IN THE LEFT ARM, I GUESS YOU COULD SAY ITS PAIN AND THEN MY LAST TWO FINGERS GET NUMB, AND AS THE CIRCULATION BEGINS TO COME BACK IT IS A BIT OF DISCOMFORT. AND I FEEL THIS DOWN MY LEFT LEG (CIRCULATION DECREASE THEN THE TINGLING) AND NOW ON MY LEFT LOWER ABDOMEN (STOMACH) I HAVE A PAIN. IT HURTS WHEN I'M SITTING AND/OR STANDING BUT IT MAY LAST ONLY A MINUTE.
IT FEELS LIKE A CRAMP OR A PULLING OR SOMETHING AND NOW I HAVE A HEMORROID AND I HAVE CONSTIPATION (LIKE ROCKS) SORRY! BUT I'M GOING TO CALL FOR AN APPOINTMENT ON MONDAY. BUT LIKE SOMEONE SAID EARLIER THE DR. THINKS YOUR TO YOUNG TO HAVE SEVER PROBLEMS THEN IT'S TOO LATE. SO I'LL SEE ANOTHER UNTIL I GET SOME ANSWERS. I'M 30 WITH 3 KIDS AND I'M NOT TRYING TO HEAR IT'S TOO LATE TO TREAT!!! SO DONT FEEL LIKE THE LONE RANGER.....

your doing the wright thing flojoe i was the one that made the remark you were refering to . .the one thing you guys may want to consider is the gerd medication may be causing some of your problems i was having a lot of the same symptoms when i was on purpulsid. (the one they removed from the market for causing heart problems)and thanks to them now i have heart problems. i would ask your doctors if it is  possible side affects of the medication . i would also venture to ask your doctors to run a upper scope (sasha)and flojoe it may be agood idea for you to have both sense you are now having lower digestive problems. the colonoscopy is the best test out there for finding digestive problems .i always brag on this test because it has proven it self so well even in the reports that are done in the medical media.i wish you both well.mary ann
