was so inflamed, then it happened when I went out to eat 2 weeks later. So, I had an endoscopy, was biopsied and came back negative for barretts, negative for H Pylori
I took the Prilosec for 4 days and was worried about side effects and since I was still nursing I stopped and looked for alternative "cures". The reflux got a little better for a few months and now it's back. I've been doing tons of research and found tons of things saying Gastritis is from LOW stomach acid not too much. So this left me wondering why they would want me to take something that further lowers my stomach acid. I bought some Betaine HCL and took 1 650mg capsule for 2 days, no discomfort/burning...then 2 the next 2 days, no discomfort then 3 last night, no discomfort. Although I am still having reflux so is it safe to say my stomach acid is still too low? I have no idea what could have caused my gastritis other than taking tums almost everyday of my pregnancy for calcium and heartburn. I also dislocated or broke my tailbone during labor and relied on Ibuprofen for a few months. So perhaps that combo did it? I am left frustrated and really don't want to have to resort to the Prilosec.
