Appendectomy 5 days ago - no bowel movement since

I had an appendectomy 5 days ago and hadn't had a bowel movement since. I've been eating some solid foods and drinking Prune juice with high fiber. Took some milk of magnesia yesterday, but still no bowel movement. I feel like I have to go, but I simply don't have the stomach muscles to push. How long should I wait before I see a doctor, or should I try a home enema (want this as a last resort)? Will an enema result in me going without any stress or need for muscles?  Also, could I hurt my stitches if I push too hard - and is my inability to push a result of the appendectomy (they did an open-surgery, 1 small inscition on my right side, I'm feeling a lot better, no pain)?

Thanks!
