There is a higher risk of colon cancer for people with IBD (UC or Crohn's). The best you can do is eat a healthy high fiber diet with lots of fruits and vegetables, and have your colon regularly checked by colonoscopy. Colon cancer usually takes a long time to develop and is totally preventable by regular screening, or so I've heard.
