Are these your hiatl hernia symptoms?

by Robadar, Sep 01, 2001 12:00AM
Years ago, a doctor speculated that I had a hiatl hernia, but  he could find no problem through test and examination.  The problem has continued for 15 years, no better, no worse.  Occasionally, if I twist my upper torso suddenly or arise from a lying position on my back suddenly, I can feel a "pop" or slight pain in my upper gut, just beneath the breast bone.  Moments later it will start to sting, and the pain, not severe, will go on for a day or two, being most pronounced if I lie down.  I'll take a tagamet, keep my body upright, avoid sudden torsioning, and the pain eventually subsides, only to return again in a week or month or two when I again suddenly twist "something".   Has anyone else encountered these or similar symptoms, and, if so, what is the cause of your condition?
