Aspirin Induced Gastritis

My doctor told me to take an aspirin a day.  Two weeks ago I developed gastritis symptoms.  I stopped the aspirin and my doctor told me to take Prilosec.  She said "when you damage your stomach lining it may take a while to heal".

Aspirin stopped for two weeks now and taking Prilosec for one week.  Still have gastritis symptoms.

Should I be freaking out?  Anybody know what kind of recovery time to expect from aspirin induced gastritis?  Are we talking days or months?

I am in the same situation, but related to Naproxen. I was put on Losec for 30 days with no real improvement. I am now on Nexium for another 30days. My Dr said I should have been feeling better in 1 month, but that the Nexium is stonger and the dose is higher and I might just need more time and more drug than the losec provided. She did originally tell me to give it at least the full month to feel better

We are also pursuing other diagnosis, such as H.Pylori
