Asymptomatic watermelon stomach GAVE

I have MS and GERD.  I just had an EGD with dilation for swallowing problems.  My Dr said that he saw GAVE stripes. I do not have any bleeding symptoms. Should I expect it to stay benign? I also use IgG-subQ. Will this increase risk as it is known to cause clots? My followup appointment is not for 3 months. He was describing GAVE to my husband as a secondary finding as I was waking from anesthia. Should I be concerned?

Than you. I had never heard of anyone finding that they had GAVE without already having a bleeding problem. How common is it to have a "benign" case? And could it potentially stay asymptomatic longterm?

Hi, Gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE) is an uncommon but clinically significant cause of chronic GI bleeding. If you do not have bleeding it may not need therapy. Immunotherapy may not increase the risk of bleeding. Treatment of GAVE is with endoscopic thermal therapy (ETT) and Endoscopic band ligation (EBL). Endoscopic band ligation (EBL) has become the standard treatment of varices because it effectively obliterates the submucosal plexus of esophageal varices with an acceptably low rate of complications. Regards.
