Back pain & Gas

by Rita__0, Oct 19, 1998 12:00AM

I am having back pain, gas , bloating , right an left upper abdominal pain,& nausea.  This has been going on for quite sometime. I had my gall  bladder removed, and that didn't seem to help.  Please let me know what this might be!

dear Rita,
As you can see from the response to your posting, bloating, abdominal and back pain, nausea  and gas may be signs of irritable bowel syndrome.  Aerophagia, swallowing excessive amounts of gas is also a possibility.  Finally, gastroparesis must be considered.
As an initial step, I suggest that you try the lifestyle modifications outlined in the response to your e-mail,  Do not talk or drink when eating, increase the amount of fiber in your diet, avoid carbonated beverages are goos initial changes.  If symptoms persist or increase, then you should see your physician.
