Barium enema AFTER colonoscopy

Barium enema AFTER colonoscopy

I am scheduled for a barium enema next week--had a colonoscopy in June which they could not complete because of a narrow, tortuous colon.  I'm wondering about the logic of having a barium enema--so if they find polyps, then what?  I can't have a colonoscopy to remove them so am I expected to have surgery?  Don't exactly feel like having a barium enema frequently just to "check" on them.

Barium Enemas are not good at detecting polyps.  It totally missed them in my son.
You will need to have the polyps removed, and even then checked regularly after that to
make sure no more have developed.  Polyps can turn cancerous quickly so you do ned to keep an eye on them if not removed.  A lot depends on how many they find, the size etc.  The can grow large enough to cause a blockage in your intestine.  I would ask your doctor these questions, so you will be well informed.  I wish you all the best and take care.
