Barrett's Misdiagnosis

This discussion is related to Barrett's Misdiagnosis - What Do You Do?.
Maybe it is the alarmingly common incidence of misdiagnosis of Barrett's Esophagus which seems to account for all these surprised people on the internet of all ages, who say they cannot believe they've been diagnosed with Barretts Esophagus?!
Maybe the vast majority of these people are misdiagnosed... I cannot believe that it can be caused by a brief spell of reflux, yet some people claim they have such a diagnosis!
