Barrett's and PVC's?

by Coasterd, May 27, 2002 12:00AM
I currently have short stick Barrett's.  I am trying to keep
the reflux under control with diet and losec.  At the same
time that I got this I started having flutters in my chest.
I have had EKG's, stress tests, monitors, and an echo.
I have no structural problems.  The only result was a 10 minute
irregular heart beat on one test.  Apparently a benign one.
I think from the descriptions in here about PVC's that I ham having them.  I get them only occassionally and they can go away
for months.  I was wondering if there is any connection between
PVC's and Barrett's?
Thanks

I have GERD which Im assuming you do also but I do not have Barrets. I definately feel like my GERD or acid reflux is associated with my PVC's. I have also notice my esophogus spasms and that also feels like a PVC and the only way I figured this out was when I was checking my pulse on my neck I felt a flutter/PVC but my pulse remained normal. If you have a true PVC you will feel it in your pulse as a weird beat there also. My gastr doc said my esophogus spasm can sometimes feel like a PVC for some people.

Oh yeh one more thing don't wear pants that are tight around your waist either they seem to cause pressure when you sit down and the nerve that controls your heart beat travels very close to the stomach and I firmly believe upper GI issues will cause PVC's.

I too can relate to your problem.  It has been going on for years, but has been at its worst recently.  I can actually feel my heart beat skip in my pulse.  I have had all the heart test, so I know it is coming from my acid reflux.  I have been diagnosed with Barrets also.  It is so bad right now, it woke me up in the middle of sleep the other night.  When I sit and move  around it gets better.  It has been happening every time I eat.  I am so ready for this to pass again.

I can also tell that I feel bloated and have a lot of gas when it happens.  It almost seems like it is trapped in my chest.  It is so weird and it use to be scary.
