side effects following the procedure that put me in the hospital for 2 days following. Came home with Dilaudid for pain and Carafate solution. Doctor told me before we did this one that we would be doing this procedure every 6 weeks.
He said there is dysplasia and that is why he is having to do this so frequently. He said the Barrett's doesn't ever go away though. So is he burning malignancies
? Is Barrett's with dysplasia basically early stages of cancerous lesions? Although I like my doctor and believe in his aggressive treatment especially due to my age of 26 years (male), he doesn't seem comfortable talking to me about this new discovery with my health these past few months.
I was permanently disabled due to the Crohn's in August 2005 so my life has already been altered due to my health at a young age.
I just want to know where things stand and if dysplasia is early stages of cancer, then I have a better understanding of why he is wanting to perform this procedure so frequently to keep an eye on the lesions and remove them before they get really bad.
Any answers for me?
Thanks much!
Dennis
In part, it may depend upon whether the dysplasia is low-grade of high-grade. You may want to take a look at this: http://www.nature.com/modpathol/journal/v16/n4/full/3880767a.html
It's one of the better 'somewhat' readable pieces of information I've found. If you have trouble with the language, holler.
