Best Gastroparesis doctor near Buffalo NY

by Blesstone, Dec 11, 2008 09:45AM
I have been dignosed with gastroparesis back in Feb 08 and have yet to find a GI doctor who treats gastroparesis at all. I called even the GI associates of WNY and no one has ever had a patient with this disease. How can they say that when there are over 5 million people just in the States with this lousy disease. If you have any info I would be so glad to hear about it. Thanks Merry Christmas Rae

Yes I lost 50 lbs and was diagnosed after 5 weeks in the hospital I also just found out I got my bile duct cut of to 1/4 in and have SOD from the injury. He did not even bother telling me back in 1998 what he had done. Rae

Question for you. I've been diagnosed with Gastroparesis and I'm a 28 year old female.  I sometimes question if I really have Gasroparesis and I seem to not be getting the anwers I need from my Dr.

I've been suffering from chronic bloating after I eat for over 2 years.  I can eat 5 crackers or a pizza and I bloat up to the size of someone who is 6 months pregnant.  It's incredibly uncomfortable and I can barely fit into my pants after I eat.  It take 5-8 hours before the bloating goes down.

I've had every test under the sun done, including a delayed emptying test, ct scan, small bowel follow through, upper and lower endoscopy, blood work, lactose, fruitose, glutten breath tests, untrasound.  Every test came back normal, except the the delayed emptying test.  I also suffer from IBS and severe episodes of diaharia.

I feel like this is taking over my life and no one seems to be able to help.

Do you suffer from chronic bloating.  Who is the Dr. you see in Buffalo?  Any suggestion would be helpful.

This is to all who posted questions. You all may have GP (gastroparesis). The delaying emtpying test is better is it's the 3 hour test In some the 90 min test is not long enough. It is a difficult diagnoise to live with. I go to Dr Camara but i only have UHC insurance so really had no choice of anyone else. Start calling all the GI doctors and find out if they treat GP because if they don't do not waste your time or money. I would like to start a support group in Lockport NY which is not far from Buffalo. My church said we could use the building. I am curiuos to find out how you all got this GP. There are 3 ways /types of GP and I got it I believe from the injury to the bile duct which is like having the worst gall bladder pain but w/o the gall bladder. I get bloating badly. There is supposed to be a Dr Wells who is supposed to be good but my HMO ***** so I have no choice. I have been to Dr Camara 1x and he is not bad. I am now on Miralax 3 x's a day and the bloating is worse but if it means i can at last go KAKA then I will deal with it. The bad taste in the mouth is the regurgatation we deal with from the vomit/ nausea we get with GP since the food just sits and rots in our tummy. If you have more questions just email me. I just have to go get ready for church. Rae

I have been diagnosed with gastroparesis and insurance company company doesn't believe me that it takes a special gastroenterologist to  treat this.  My life has become a living hell and I neer my home. My bowels have not worked in over 8 months, no matter what they have give me or what I have tried. I look like I'm ready to deliver a baby at any time and I am a vvery slender woman at 105 pounds. I do not care where the doctor is, I will go there. It's not that I have money, I am desperate.  Thank you.  Abbygirl
