Bile Duct Stone (30 mm x 16 mm)

Bile Duct Stone (30 mm x 16 mm)

My mother is 70 years old. She had her gallbladder removed many years back. ERCP procedures diagnosed a 30 mm by 16 mm stone on the common bile duct. Doctors in Vellore Hospital tried to remove it by ERCP but could not due to the large size. They have given medication to soften/reduce it and will try it again a month after.
What is the chances of the success ? And is surgery advisable?

Thanks,
Surath

I don't believe there is any way for any of us to give you an idea of the 'chance' of success. Hopefully, the meds will be able to dissovle some of the stone, enough that when they do another ERCP they'll be able to successfully extract it.
