Biliary Dsykinesia Diagnoses After Gallbladder Removal??

by madison130, Mar 09, 2009 01:28AM
I am one week, 2 days post op from gallbladder removal.
Had my gallbladder removed because of severe pain, fever, nausea, and vomiting for five solid weeks.  Had negative ct and ultrasound.  No stones, fluid, or wall thickening, but then a HIDA scan showed an ejection % of 20.  So, out it came.
Since surgery, the only symptom that has been relieved is the pain...  I'm still vomiting 6-10 x/day, even though I've been taking Promethazine every 4 hrs around the clock.  And let me tell you, vomiting is not the best way to recover from surgery.  lol  I've already had to go back once and have my incisions "re-stitched" because of it.
Two days ago, my dr had me come back in for some tests, and he said I have biliary dyskinesia (aka Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction), and that I may have to have yet another surgery now...
He didn't explain much about this other surgery to me...  didn't really even explain what SOD is...  so I'm a little confused.  And frustrated.  I'm now wondering if the gallbladder removal was even necessary...
Anyone else been through this?  And can someone please explain to me what SOD is, and what kind of surgery is used to "fix" it?
Thanks!!
