Bilirubin

Bilirubin

Hello,
For the last three months I have felt like throwing up and nauseated and random times of the day.  Sometimes morning, sometimes at night.  I eat normal, use the bathroom normally, etc.  I finally went to the doctor and he had no idea what was wrong because I have a random symptom of just feeling like throwing but haven't.  He ordered blood tests and a barium swallow xray.  I have not taken the xray yet.  I took the blood tests and they came back with slightly elevated bilirubin levels and he wants me to get a liver ultrasound.  I will also be getting the barium swallow next week.  What can this mean?  Should I be worried about my liver?  What are the changes of a liver disease, etc.

Elevated bilirubin could suggest that for whatever reason the output from your liver might be getting a bit backed up. It could be that your gallbladder isn't functioning properly, or that something could be going on with your liver, so it's wise that you are getting the u/s done. While they're looking at the liver, they're also going to be checking out your gallbladder too, which is the more 'likely' culprit.

I know it's hard to do, but try to relax. It's no use worrying beforehand.
