, but my episodes are quite unsual and I've left several doctors stumped. Maybe somebody here will at least be able to tell me that they've heard of this before. My episodes start when I'm asleep, usually between 2 and 5 AM. I wake up to intense abdominal pain - enough to make it hard to talk - which progresses over the next half hour or so to severe nausea, dizziness, a profuse cold sweat
and almost painfully tingly skin. Once all of that hits I have very little time to get myself to the bathroom before I have what can only be described as explosive diarrhea, usually accompanied by vomiting, and then I pass out, often falling off the toilet because it happens so fast. It takes me a few minutes to come around, and I lay for about another 10-15 minutes with ringing
and almost total loss of vision and motor control. When it's finally over, I'm tired and shaky but able to get up and function pretty normally. I recover quickly enough when it's all over that I've never been able to get to the ER to have a medical professional see me in action, but a few people have witnessed the episodes and said they're really scary to watch because I turn so pale, sweat
so much, and look like I've stopped breathing. I'm 38, and I've had these episodes every 2 to 6 months for the last 7 or 8 years. I've met people with some of these symptoms but not all, and I've never found another person whose episodes start in their sleep or are nearly as acute
I am a few years older than you and have similar symptoms as you describe, and I have never been able to get a straight answer for this either. I will watch with you to see if you have more comments.
